He became convinced, early in his teaching career, of the value of information about the physiology and acoustics of singing in 1961 he developed a vocal pedagogy forum, through a journal published by the Music Teachers National Association, for discussion among voice teachers, to encourage openness to scientific approaches to the teaching of singing. He sang often with the Cleveland Orchestra under George Szell, Pierre Boulez, and Louis Lane, including the summer promenade concerts and all five of the Cleveland Orchestra's Lake Erie Opera seasons at Severance Hall.Īlthough he was not formally trained as a scientist, he was always intensely curious about scientific aspects of singing. One of the benefits of using a floating floor is that the floor boards are locked together at the joints of each board (not nailed, adhered or attached to the subfloor in any way). For examples, look at our Northern Lights collection. ![]() The best type of wood flooring construction to use would be a "Floating" Engineered Floor. What is the best wood flooring to use over radiant heat? FLOATING ENGINEERED WOOD FLOORS Electric radiant heat pads should only be used under ceramic or porcelain tile. NOTE: This Article represents hot water radiant heat systems only, Not Electric radiant heat pads which most wood flooring manufacturers do not want to see used under their flooring due to the possibility of overheating. Most newer radiant heat systems have exterior thermostats which will gradually bring up the temperature within the floor during the start of the colder season so that the heat will not shock the wood flooring causing the flooring to distort. We recommend the radiant heat be run at a temperature of 65-70 degrees two weeks prior to the wood flooring being brought in and until the wood flooring has been installed. By installing the radiant heat tubing within the concrete slab during the pouring of the concrete.Īny wood flooring that can be used over radiant heat systems must be brought into the area in which it will be installed and allowed to acclimate for at least two weeks prior to the flooring being installed.By installing the radiant heat tubing within a plywood underlayment system, directly over the existing concrete slab or existing wood subfloor. This is the most common installation in home renovation. By installing the radiant heat tubing directly under the wood subfloor from below. There are several ways radiant heat systems can be installed: The surface temperature though, should not exceed 80 degrees. Radiant heat contractors usually adjust their systems to match the type and thickness of the flooring so that it will perform as it should. The thickness of the particular flooring being used can also make a difference as to how much heat is transferred to the surface. We do not recommend using Maple, Pine, Hickory or Brazilian Cherry because they are noted to be unstable wood species. In addition, not all species of wood are good candidates for an installation over radiant heating systems. The surface temperature of the subfloor should not exceed 80 degrees. Due to the natural characteristics of wood, absorbing and holding ambient moisture, along with the ability of the wood floor boards to expand and contract with different moisture levels within its environment, the dry heat directly under the wood flooring can cause flooring to dry out quickly and contract in size, causing cupping and/or large open gaps between the boards. Unlike conventional heating systems which emit heat from the base of walls or up through vents in the floor, radiant heat transfers the heat directly under and up through the wood flooring with temperatures of 80 degrees or higher. Using the wrong wood flooring, improper installation methods or lack of maintaining proper relative humidity levels with a radiant heat system can be devastating. ![]() ![]() Nowadays, radiant heat systems have become a lot more prevalent, affordable and reliable. See About Us.Įarly in-floor radiant heat systems were temperamental, expensive and only a handfull of heating companies had the experience to install them. Over the years, we have installed a lot of wood flooring over different types of radiant heat systems including many for the PBS television series "This Old House". Radiant heat provides an even warmth with no cold spots within a room and provides a comfort that cannot be matched by any other type of heating system. With new building and remodeling practices, the demand for using in-floor radiant heat has increased dramatically with in the last 25 years. If you are happy with the contour plots with wrong labels you can do that, but otherwise I found no other solution than to create those interpoation function to get what we obviously could have much easier with old Mathcad versions. Please look more closely at the axis labels/scales to see why all the work was done to create plots which equal the desired result which is seen in the pdfs.Īs already written i t is quite easy to bring the seemingly bad areas back to life simply by checking autoscaling for the axis - no need to insert a new plot. ![]() How? A new contour plot still shows just the index numbers for abscissa and ordinate, not the real frequency and range. Is there a less cumbersome and elaborate way of getting that result?. In retrospective I like the bahaviour of the older version. We see that it worked in MC2K by looking at the html-version of the sheet (the second of Valerys links). In MC2000 the matrix calues are mapped to that range while in MC15 we don't see anything because the x values are out of the range 0.35. Inserts a new axis expression into the active axis expression list. Mathcad assumes that the rows and columns represent equally spaced intervals on. Mathcad is the first and only engineering calculation solution that simultaneously performs and documents engineering calculations while dramatically. But in MC2000 it was obviously possible to cope with that by manually setting the axis scales (not the quickplot data) - in case of the sheet 50<=x<=800 and 1<=x.<=4. The contour plot is a visual representation of the matrixs level curves. You can use this tool to create contour lines for any function you input. In MC15 there is no way to handle that if we plot a matrix. ![]() We plot a 36x36 matrix and so we only see a plot for 0<=x,y<=35, which does not reflect the true abscissa and ordinate values. I don't remember and I just had a look at the Mathcad2000 manual without being wiser, but it seems that the contourplot behaved differently in older versions. Has anyone experienced this Can someone tell me how to create contour plot in mathcad. Mathcad will take days to digest and the virtual memory will not follow. Then it is necessary to analyze the geometry of a particular contour line. I can move the square around but not enter anything in it. For example, one has a contour plot of some data (or a parametric surface). Using either " insertgraphcontour plot" or " < ctrl> +5" creates a VERY tiny square. Set both to autoscale and you get the same as a newly created contourplot would show. Trying to create a contour plot in Mathcad13. The problem is the scaling of the x- and y-axis. The contour plot should not have this problem though, so I think the file must be corrupted in some way. ![]() ![]() I cannot release you’.”Īccording to a document prepared by the military command at the prison, Guantánamo continues to be “a key intelligence resource,” and has helped “prevent terrorist attacks and has saved lives.” ‘That’s a decision for the colonels, generals and whoever else. “‘I too would be angry, but I am only a sergeant,’ I tell them.
